Been to Phuket 3 times now, need a change, thought about Khao Lak for August but guess weather would not be great there.
Friends said weather would be ok in Hua Hin, or at least better than Phuket or Khao Lak. Also heard Hua Hin is more Thai type of place and that appeals to us, tired of the Patong Phuket crowds :) LOL but not worth if it is just like Patong |

I am not sure but I don't think Hua Hin is anything like Patong in Phuket.
It is more cultural beach place, it is not a party bar and pub place like Patong, we have not been but plan to and that is what our friends said and they have been to Phuket and places and thet said Hua Hin was nicer althouh the beach was not so tropical style it was very long and the town is hassle-free and easy going. |

| The weather was perfet, hot and surprisingly dry, apart from a very short few minutes of rain one night it was dry the whole time |

| Good to know, I thought it was rainy season in Phuket so Hua Hin would be the same but I had already found out it was drier in Hua Hin |

| I have done a lot of searching on this, Hua Hin weather would be a lot drier, Pattaya also has weather that seems ok at that time. |

Hua Hin and Pattaya have better weather at that time but so do Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, so you have plenty of choices
