Very good choice of hotels and resorts on the Malaysian island of Penang.
Hotels in Georgetown Penang and also hotels at the beaches including Batu Ferringhi beach hotels and also hotels at the beach at Tanjung Bungah.

Is Penang similar to Phuket. I read that it is not as lively and doesn't have as good beaches, is that correct

Penang is very different from Phuket. There are some beaches on Penang, Batu ferringhi is the best and hence busiest, some of the other beaches are not that good.
You also will not find the entertainment and nightlife on Penang that you would find on Phuket. I much prefer Phuket or elsewhere in Thailand, but that is me.
Penang is ok for relaxing but Phuket is much more of a tropical island holiday destination with far more to see and do.

There are so many airline and flight bargains to Asia at the moment and together with very cheap hotel rates now in fact is a very good time for a holiday in Asia whilst the prices are so low

Batu Ferringhi beach is the place to stay if you want a hotel on the beach in Penang

The airfares are good now, most airlines are offering high discounts for air travel and plenty of good deals on flights to Penang from Asia with most airlines that fly there, also the budget airline Firefly has good airfares

There are some very good bargains for cheap flights with Air Asia and the other budget airlines, Asiaoz and Beachsiam both have very good hotel deals at the moment so a cheap time to travel for a holiday

I have found Asiaoz to be good for hotel rates and also for having lots of choice Hotel Bookings Malaysia and quite easy to use, many of the hotels are Instant confirmation so there is no waiting to know if rooms are available for not

Penang beach hotels at Batu Ferringhi are more expensive than those at Tanjung Bungah as the beach is simply better.
