There are quite a lot of hotels and resorts along the Cha Am beach south of the actual town of Cha Am, these tends to have nicer beach area than those on the beach area of the town itself.

Remember that a lot of the Cha Am hotels that are on the beach are between Cha Am and Hua Hin.

Is Cha Am the place near Hua Hin ?

Yes, Cha Am is just north of Hua Hin, it is only about 15 to 20 minutes between the 2 depending on which part of Cha Am you are going from.

Was there a hotel called Golden Sands in Cha Am on the beach ?

The Golden Sands was the old name for the Novotel Cha Am, see the other posts about the Novotel Cha Am on Courtyard by Marriott Cha Am for more details. This has in fact now change names again, it is now the Cha Am Courtyard by Marriott

I had read reviews for the Golden Sands but could not find more recent reviews, I suppose that is because they would now be shown as for the Novotel Cha Am.

Low season hotel rates for Cha Am, depending on the hotel or resort, low rates start around late April or May, there are as always plenty of cheap low season hotel bargains in Cha Am for hotels during the low season, although the weather is very good at that time of year, May to September.

Travel21 - try the new Alila Cha Am or look at the Sheraton or the Blue Lagoon Apartments ( pool access but not private pools ), also look under Hua Hin as quite a few with private pools.

We are thinking about the Sheraton or Hyatt in Hua hin, but I have read about the Dusit Thani, is that within walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Compared with other parts of the world this region is in fact not doing so bad for toursim compared with others. Good that airlines and hotelds are all offering good prices to attract visitors.

The exchange rate is good for the Australian Dollar so it makes Asian holidays cheaper, good to see some very good promotion offers

It is very easy to get from Bangkok Airport to Cha Am and Hua Hin by taxi.
From Bangkok city also express also by train, not so many trains stop at Cha Am station but you can get off and take a taxi from Hua Hin railway station
