If you know which beach you plan to stay on Phuket or which area then it is best to go to the individual forum threads for tose particular beaches to get information about those beaches or areas, this is for general questions and general discussion about Phuket and not just hotels but other ideas, suggestions, reviews and comments for Phuket.

Phuket has a lot of diversity, there are the quieter beaches but also the busy beaches, shopping malls, the islands that can be reached on day trips etc, if you want nightlife and entertainment on Phuket then Patong Beach is the place to go.

I remember when it was a lot quieter, I did not mind visiting in the low season as it was quiet, but it has expanded so much in even just the last couple of years.

We stayed at Karon Beach on Phuket, we did go along to some other beaches, Surin which was the furthest north we went was the nicest. Karon beach was ok, you have to walk across a road to get to the beach so it meant having to walk back to the hotel everytime you wanted to use the bathroom ! But that appears the case with most of the hotels that they are not on the beach but across a road.
Phuket was far busier and a lot of tourists, more fast food places and a lot of very 'loud people', it was not tranquil or serence, though I think staying at a beach like Surin on Phuket would have been a far more relaxing experience.
We are planning on the Gulf side beaches next as we want a more Thai style beach place.

There are a lot of choices from budget to luxury on Phuket for hotels and other accommodation, see that website for many reviews.
