2005 RX8 (yeaaa, i already heard all of the rotary jokes) with 109k miles. The engine was replaced at some point in its past, though that didnt show up on Carfax. My research has come up with nothing but egotistic 19yr olds that live off of mommy's money and dont give a rats ass about the condition of their rotary. But the question im looking for help on is.. Full synthetic or Conventional oil??
Louie, which RX8 website do you use??

Depends on what you're doing with it and how often you plan to change it.

Studies (consumer reports 1996, etc.) have shown that under "normal" driving conditions, there's essentially no difference to component wear between synth & dino.

So, with a piston engine, used for DD duty, and the oil changed every 3000 miles, get whatever Advance has on sale with a filter.

If you're going to be racing it, going on longer change intervals, or if rotaries have sludging problems, then a synthetic blend or full synthetic may be worth the extra investment.

Rotaries run hotter by reputation than a typical piston application, so it might be worth the extra bucks if you plan on driving it hard.

A synthetic will also behave more consistently in a wider range of temperatures. So cold starts will be a little easier this time of year.

On the Protege I use full synthetic, on the Speed6 I use blend (as that is what is reccomended to stop the turbo seals from leaking on that car). So my advice would be to find out what other RX8 people have had positive results from and go with that.
