I was refering to the certain situations as in anthing that makes sound not from a music or something. I disagree that any video divise would be equiped to supply good enough audio. You have seen my man cave marcus... im a slight audiophile.
There is budget ways to this. I got a buddy i can talk to about this tommorow. He was a amatuer sound guy for some DSLR films. _________________

I'll agree that there are certain situations that can benefit from an external mic (camera mounted outside the car, for instance). But I get perfectly fine audio from my old Canon SD1000 P&S camera, provided it's kept out of the wind. And I would think that would be good enough for something we'd do.
And I wasn't specifically referencing you, just the fact that an external mic HAS to be used to get decent audio. I disagree with this. _________________

You want to spend money, go for it. I figured we'd use what we collectively have and keep it free and easy. _________________

Yeah, Marcus, I think opinions may vary on what, exactly "our purposes" are .
I don't want anything to do with one of these ass-bag car club intro films that are splattered like errant spooge all over youtube. If I did, I would join D2NED in nashville and go around rep'in for my bois cuz we'd have a video of an NA cobalt doing a crappy burn out in a parking lot followed by garage-band scream-o and some no-talent roll racing....I'm just sayin'
It'd be cool to see if we could manage to like story-board, organize, shoot and edit a halfway decent "film" of sorts. _________________

I'd agree with those, and especially the first point.

Wow... Apparently I'm missing out on stuff YT has to offer.
Of course, I'd in no way suggest that we make ourselves look like complete morons, with a total disregard for public safety and racking up as many moving violations as possible. _________________

Just spend 20-30 bucks for a digital voice recorder to go along with the cameras. I've got one for work, and works pretty well with my GoPro when I'm taping autocross runs. I'm sure George Lucas wouldn't use in the next Star Wars flick, but hey... _________________

Well, a simple point and shoot 30 frames per second just wont cut it.
Im sorry, but that is just ridiculous. Its supposed to be a FUN video to shoot and edit. I plan to drop zero money into the making of it, other than gas for the day... and i would feel bad for someone to go out and buy external mic's and cameras with tricky mounts... for no one to even want to do it.
Maybe if a video was made every week, some money could be invested.. but for a one time only thing... NEGATIVO!
and also who cares what people think about the vid? it is for us and us to enjoy. I dont care what other people think... fuck em. i got other things to worry about than "muh street cred". If Andrew wants to do a wicked mad FWD burnout in the maxima... then so be it. _________________

Our T1i's don't have an input for an external mic, unless someone wanted to get a stand-alone unit and sync up the sound and video in postprocessing.
I could care less. |

I'd rather see Andrew make a sweet video of him lunch tray drifting the Maxima. _________________

I'm not saying we need to spend a bunch of money, as apparently we have enough decent cameras to cover every possible angle on a car.
It seems there are a few tripods floating around. I've already got 2 usable remote mics. Does anyone else have a camera mount that will hold a DSLR/handi-cam sized thing to a car?
Also, I'm not worried about "muh street cred", but that doesn't mean I'm going to sign up for making some WWE-esque cock-swinging street racing video . Andrew can burn the tires off the race car all he wants, but you won't see me in the foreground throwing up the shocker y'know.
I think the hardest part of any of this will be getting enough people in the same place at the same time to call it a group video. Several of us are constantly at the dragon, Several are constantly at autocrosses, Several are constantly hard-parking Sonic...etc, but rarely all at the same time.
Maybe each "faction" can contribute some footage/stills to the cause and then it could be compiled?
...so you could fade/cut from a low angle rolling shot of Uberschnell dorifto-ing the E30, to me pointing a bunch of corvettes/BMWs by on a track, to Ryan with a fake mullet doing a burn-out, to Marcus nearly sliding off the dragon, to Marcus backwards at an autocross, to Marcus eating a hot-dog at Sonic, to Marcus swearing at something else he's broken on his suspension, to Connor taking a really exquisite photo of Andrew licking an ///M badge _________________

Fake? WTF - thats a 100% genuine mullet!!
You all are welcome to poach any of my autocross videos off of youtube. I'll also be happy to take requests for GoPro mounting locations.
Please limit the Andrew on M3 sexual encounters - nobody wants to see that except Andrew. _________________

I like the Marcus ideas
It'll have to be an ///M badge on a car that doesn't have a crinkled quarter panel. _________________
